Where to Start…

Welcome to Peony & Penny! If you’re here then we assume you are engaged and in the throws of planning your wedding so, first things first, congratulations!

If you’re newly engaged then the first thing you’re going to want to do is enjoy celebrating your engagement! Take as long as you want to enjoy this new phase of your relationship together and then get stuck into planning your day when, and only when, you are both ready to.

Here at Peony & Penny, we are strong believers that brides and grooms-to-be should have the wedding they want. It is your day so prioritise what is important to you guys over anything else!

So, where exactly do you begin?

You may already know exactly what kind of day you want to plan or you might be going in completely blind; either way, it’s important to decide early on what would be the most essential thing for you. You will discover that finding one element may easily influence or have an affect on other aspects of the day. For e.g. if you want a more outdoor-sey wedding in a tipi above all else then that makes it easier to narrow down the time of year to pick a date. If your heart is set on a specific venue or location then availability at these places may direct you to a date and season. You may have a specific flower or colour scheme in mind. If so, these can naturally tie in with a certain time of year.

Once you have an idea of what you’re looking for then it becomes a whole lot easier to navigate through the seemingly endless supply of information available. Instagram and Pinterest will become invaluable for inspiration. Make sure you create a board on Pinterest early on so you can save any ideas and things you like the look of straight away. Sites, such as Rock My Wedding and Rock and Roll Bride, will be a great source of information with their incredible supplier list and their real weddings blogs will soon take over your bed time reading.

Peony & Penny will be here to provide as much useful advice and as many tips as we can to help during the planning stages and if you want to see what we’re loving right now then head over to our Instagram page!

Once you get going, hopefully you’ll find that planning a wedding doesn’t have to be as overwhelming as it can appear at the start.

And our first bit of advice for the planning stages…

Enjoy every minute!!
